what does the price include?

The price of each barrel includes excise, warehousing, insurance, six-monthly samples, bottling with supply of bottles, stopper, neck seal, & minimum statutory label. Price does not include GST or the cost of the barrel, which is available to purchase for an additional cost.

what type of barrels do you use?

We supply three-year-old premium whisky, aged in 200L ex-Heaven Hill Bourbon casks. This process guarantees that even with the smallest 30L casks, the end result will be at least 5-years-old, with a depth of richness & flavour that will take you to your happy place!

are the barrels insured?

Yes. Amber Lane Distillery insures all barrels in our warehouse, including those belonging to our various whisky barrel owners.

can i taste my whisky throughout the maturation process?

As a barrel owner, you are welcome to visit your barrel any time throughout the maturation process. We will also deliver samples of your whisky every six months, so you can follow the progress of your whisky barrel.

how involved will i be in the decisions around the whisky maturation?

We want you to be part of the Amber Lane journey. You’ll get to taste & choose the bourbon cask whisky you want & what the finishing cask will be, as well as having the chance to experience the filling of your barrel in-person.

Our cellar master will share regular updates & offer advice on how to produce the best tasting whisky.

what happens at the end of maturation?

You’ll be able to help with the bottling of your whisky. Whisky bottles, seals & stoppers are supplied by Amber Lane Distillery. You can design your own bottle label, or we can create a design for you for an extra fee.

where are the barrels stored?

All whisky barrels are stored in the Amber Lane Distillery warehouse, located on the Central Coast, alongside our own whisky barrels. Our cellar master will take good care of your barrel throughout its maturation, providing expert advice & assessments with the six-monthly samples delivered to you.

Can I keep my barrel at the end of the process?

If you would like to keep your barrel at the end of your whisky maturation process, you will be able to purchase the barrel for an additional fee. Barrel cost is likely in the range of $500-$800, depending on your barrel selection.

can we buy a barrel as a group?

Absolutely. To bring barrel ownership within reach of more Australian whisky lovers, we’re offering the chance for you to purchase a share in a barrel, either with a group of friends, or we can link you up with others.
